Is it now safe to holiday in Fiji?

After the events of the last couple of years many of you may be wondering – is it now safe to holiday in Fiji?

Fiji is one of Australia’s most popular holiday destinations – and for a good reason. The Republic of Fiji is an archipelago of more than 330 islands, popular destinations being Nadu, the Coral Coast, Denarau Island, and Mamanuca Islands. It is known for its beautiful beaches, stunning resorts and kind people and culture. There is no limit in what you can see and do, while not being too far from home.

Remember when you could just get on a plane and go nearly anywhere in the world with little to no consequences? Up until two years ago, our lives were increasingly defined by jet setting and getaways, and overseas holidays were more accessible than ever.

As of the 3rd of March 2022, we can now return back to the travel life we once knew so well. Well… sort of.

Covid restrictions are still in place and with political tensions high, stepping back into the world can all feel very daunting.

COVID-19 in Fiji

Fiji is now open for international tourism for fully-vaccinated individuals. If you are fully vaccinated you can enter the country quarantine free, but will still be required to submit a negative COVID test upon arrival.

It is recommended to continue to wear a mask and sanitise while on the island – especially in high traffic areas. It is recommended to avoid low-vaccination areas where elderly, frail, and young people are, so as not to endanger them with infection of COVID-19. However, with this said, the majority of Fiji is vaccinated against COVID-19, and is not considered high risk.

Fiji closed its border early on in 2020 – like much of the world – but as of December 2021, has reopened its borders with warm welcomes to tourists. If you contract COVID-19 during your Fiji holiday you will be required to complete seven days of hotel quarantine – or until you test negative. As such, Fiji is the perfect place to get back on the traveling horse.

Why should Fiji be your next getaway destination?

Despite being only four months into 2022, it has certainly been a barrel of emotions for many of us. Between natural disasters and the threat of rising global conflicts, it can feel very scary stepping into the world.

For many, traveling seems like a bigger risk than it did a couple of years ago. No one wants to get stuck far from home or in a risky situation like many Australians did in 2020.

This is why Fiji is such a great option for those of us who are a little apprehensive. Fiji is a short trip from Australia, easy to get back to if you need to at the drop of a hat. Fiji is also 90% vaccinated, and is a safe country for those still concerned about COVID-19.

On top of all of this, Fiji is a great place to get away from it all. While popular destinations like Europe or America offer awesome holidays, Fiji feels (and is) far away from the tensions of the rest of the word. Fiji is a holiday that really feels like a holiday. If the last two years have taught us anything, it’s that prioritising your mental state is incredibly important. For more updates, visit: https://powerksi.com/
